Charlotte Johnson is the name behind the increasingly popular brand Dylshouse. Charlotte works from her home studio surrounded by a wide variety of animals such as cats, dogs and ducks and draws her inspiration from the happenings that go on around her by adding colour and personality to the animals she paints.
The name Dylshouse originated from Dylan, Charlotte’s much loved chocolate Labrador. They would spend many happy hours together whilst Charlotte worked in her studio, often late into the night. It was Charlotte’s daughter who first named her studio “Dylan’s House” which was then shortened to Dylshouse, a name that happily stayed.
Designs by Dylshouse were originally released as a range of textile prints such as apron, tea towels and oven gloves. This has now expanded to include hand-finished fine bone china teapots, tea sets, plates and other tableware to provide a perfect blend of sophisticated countryside inspired homeware pieces.
Charlotte is passionate about supporting local business and tradespeople wherever possible so all her items are crafted and finished within the UK as close to her home as possible.
Dylshouse works exclusively with independent companies that take extreme pride in the high quality of their work. They strive to ensure that every product is made from only the best materials.
Since Charlotte’s children left home last year, she has now found some “me time” to push on and develop her passion further. We are very much looking forward to seeing a lot more of this designer over the next few years.
